9 Quick Apply Full-time 5 hours ago Full Job Description LAS VIRGENES UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT Job Description PLANT MANAGER - ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DEFINITION:
Under supervision of the site administrator and Director of Maintenance, Operations and Facilities (MOF), supervises the work of cleaning and maintaining the total school campus (may include preschool), and preparing school facilities for all approved school and community use; and does other work as required.
Serves as site Green Team lead manager.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Coordinates the work of the custodians and grounds workers to accomplish effective cooperation with the principals and teaching staff of each school so proper standards of cleanliness and efficiency are maintained.
Serves as a member of the District Management Team.
May be required to check on staff and activities at night.
Supervises, trains and evaluates up to four full-time employees.
Maintains a standard of cleanliness in and around school plant.
May provide training for custodians.
Supervises and acts as first-line evaluator for assigned custodial personnel.
Assigns the work schedules and daily work tasks for staff custodians.
Performs daily, weekly, and monthly interval inspections of custodial and grounds areas for safety and cleanliness.
Performs a variety of semi- and non-technical repairs for which necessary equipment, tools and materials are available; makes repairs to custodial equipment.
May make recommendations for the improvement of custodial and grounds staff efficiencies.
Adjusts schedules to meet the needs of the instructional and other programs of the school.
Provides orientation training for all new custodial employees.
Assists in the development of health and safety programs and reports safety hazards to responsible departments.
Works with MOF to assure staff receive safety training including PPE; reports serious infractions and unsafe conditions to supervisor.
Provides input in policy formulation and decisions regarding implementation of policy.
Assists in the selection, employment, transfer and promotion of custodial and grounds personnel at that school.
Will have a cleaning area assignment, performs varied custodial and grounds work, and manages program activity set-ups and assignments.
Supervises and participates in set-up of activities, special events, and meeting rooms; consults with site administrators and staff to obtain scheduling details regarding activities and special events; assigns staff to set up activities.
Works with MOF to define scope of work for contracted projects; may consult with vendors and monitor work to assure conformance with purchase agreements.
Responsible for site-based recycling program management including assistance with Green Team activities, and assist District in maintaining energy and water conservation measures.
Prepares for and leads summer deep cleaning activities.

Orders, receives and stores custodial and grounds supplies and equipment; maintains budgetary records and files related to purchases and work orders; conducts inventories and completes property loss forms as necessary.
Assures needed supplies, materials and equipment are available; coordinates materials for special assignments as necessary.
Properly stores and maintains cleaning equipment.
Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Methods, materials, supplies and equipment used in custodial maintenance activities, non-technical building repairs, grounds keeping and PPE.
Custodial supplies, proper storage and handling.
Carpet, wood and tile floor care methods and procedures.
Safe equipment use, including high-reach equipment working from heights.
Building system operations including fire alarm systems.
Principles and practices of supervision and training.
Recordkeeping practices.
Applicable laws and regulations.
Applicable safety requirements and practices.
ABILITY TO:
Plan, schedule and assign work of custodial, maintenance and grounds crew on two shifts.
Supervise the work of custodians and grounds workers.
Analyze and apply standard rules and regulations to specific situations.
Devise and adopt work procedures and recordkeeping systems to meet changing organizational or specialized needs.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Interact in a positive manner with children, adults and community members.
Be flexible to perform work within changing priorities.
Work with computers and maintain records.
Experience:
Three years of responsible experience in custodial and maintenance work preferred; one year in a supervisory capacity preferred.
EDUCATION:
Graduation from high school or equivalent; courses in supervision desirable.
LICENSES:
Possession of a valid California driver's license required.
